Felt like blogging about dinner today as the Lychee Pork was very colourful and yummy, and i tried eating and cooking this new veggie called royal chives (aka qing long cai) for the first time. I have heard alot of rave about it for a long time but never tried it before as to be honest, it did not look very appetizing when i saw it at the grocery store. It also had a strong smell which i was not fond of. After tasting it, i realized how wrong i was. It’s really really good! I cleaned out the plate tonight cos it was really light and appetizing with a great texture. It doesn’t have a strong smell at all. If you were unsure like me before, I hope this post will change your mind!

The veggie was very simple, you only need a few simple ingredients.
Ingredients:
- 200g royal chives, cleaned and cut into sections
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1/2 carrot, cut into thin strips
- Handful of mini king oyster mushrooms, cut in strips (use any of your favourite mushrooms)
- 2 – 3 tbsp oyster sauce
- Few spalshes of water, as needed
Method:
- In a hot wok, saute garlic until fragrant.
- Add in carrots and mushrooms.
- When mushrooms start to soften, add in royal chives.
- Fry until royal chives is just cooked. If you feel that your mixture is getting too dry, add a splash of water and stir fry.
- Add in oyster sauce and toss well until chives are cooked through.
