Double Cheeseburger with Homemade Buns


This is one of the first burgers i learnt to make for Benny. It’s easy and yummy and it is the best with soft, fluffy homemade burger buns. I bake a loaf of bread every other day and bake burger buns once a week. I must say, once you get into the habit of eating your own bread, you can never go back! Beef patties are juicy and yummy, the only thing missing are pickles!


  • Burger
  1. About 300g minced beef
  2. 1/2 tsp salt
  3. 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  4. 1/2 tsp onion powder
  5. Black pepper
  6. Cayenne pepper
  7. Cheese
  8. Minced onions mixed with ketchup and mustard
  • Buns (makes 8 burger buns or 16 slider buns)
  1. 280g bread flour
  2. 20g cake flour
  3. 20g milk powder
  4. 150g fresh milk
  5. 1 egg
  6. 1/2 tsp salt
  7. 60g sugar
  8. 30g butter
  9. 1 1/2 tsp yeast


  1. Add all ingredients into your bread maker and start the bread dough cycle.
  2. Remove from machine and knead dough. Form into buns. Cover loosely and let it rise for about 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  3. Brush with egg wash. Bake in a hot oven at 160 deg for 16 mins.
  4. Marinate beef in all the seasonings.
  5. Grill in a hot pan until brown on both sides. Add on cheese and serve with toasted buns and top with onion sauce.
