Baby Back Ribs with homemade Barbecue Sauce


This was the birthday dinner that i’ve long planned for Benny. I went to multiple places over the course of two days just to find baby back ribs. Apparently it is a cut of meat that is not popular here and hard to find. And every butcher that i’ve been to directs me to the baby food section! I was so happy when i’ve finally found them and i was even more ecstatic with the result! The meat was off the bone tender, and the barbecue sauce is the best i have ever tasted. I am never ever gonna buy the bottled crap every again! Ben totally enjoyed his birthday dinner and that is the best part for me 😀


  1. Racks of baby back ribs, about 500g to 600g each
  2. Dry rub: 1tbsp salt, 1tbsp sugar, 1tbsp brown sugar, 1tsp black pepper, 1/2 tsp cumin powder, 1tsp cayenne
  • Barbecue Sauce
  1. 1tbsp oil
  2. 1 heaped tbsp tomato paste
  3. 1/2 tbsp cayenne pepper
  4. 1 tsp garlic powder
  5. 1 tsp onion powder
  6. 1 cup ketchup
  7. 1 cup water
  8. 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  9. 1/4 cup molasses
  10. 1/8 cup brown sugar
  11. 1 1/2 tbsp white sugar
  12. 1/2 tbsp salt
  13. 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
  14. 1/2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  15. 1 tsp hot english mustard
  16. 1/2 tsp black pepper


  1. Remove skin from ribs if preferred.
  2. Using dry rub ingredients, rub all over ribs and marinate in the fridge for a few hours or overnight.
  3. Wrap ribs in aluminum foil, bone side up and seal tightly.
  4. Bake ribs in the oven for 2.5 hours at 120 degrees.
  5. To make barbecue sauce, mix all ingredients in a pot and bring to boil. Reduce to simmer for about 20-25 minutes until thickened. Stir frequently.
  6. Open foil and let ribs rest for 10 minutes.
  7. Discard juices, and brush barbecue sauce on both sides of the ribs.
  8. Return ribs to the oven, meat side up with foil opened.
  9. Bake at 175 degrees for 50 minutes. Remove from oven and brush barbecue sauce over the ribs every 10 minutes.
  10. Brush with one more layer of sauce once removed from the oven and serve with more sauce.
